Fishing for catfish requires lots of patience. After the patience is gone you grab a stick and snag the fun little ones. And crawdads too.

The super dooper cat fish bait that worked really well last time was a complete dud this time. However at noon we drove back to the small town nearby and had pizza. There was pizza left over so we bought some cheese dip and headed back to the lake. It was on a piece of pepperoni dipped in cheese that Doodlebug hooked her first catfish. You know how sometimes they do that last flip of desperation? Well this one did and escaped before we could land it. It was possible the largest fish Doodlebug has hooked to date. Next time we will buy pizza first, and bring a net to scoop them out.

Life is good.

  2. And I know you know all about everything in the photo and in the pizza shop.

Next time we will just have pizza for breakfast and get an extra sausage one for the fish.

BTW these guys are getting old enough that I think we are gonna buy some artificial lures, and work the banks for bass. You know that moving and casting kinda thing.

When it gets to be about 5 or 6 we will settle in and try for catfish.

  4. We don’t have those skills yet, so we will work on it. We even dug out Chris’s ole Banjo Minnows, and the video.

Now we have to get a parts kit for them but the company is still on line.

The good thing is that it’s more active and keeps the guys interested longer. When we get tired we settle in and fish for cat.

  5. It’s all about patience. It sure is nice that their all getting big enough to be independent fisher-people and really enjoy their own accomplishments, without much intervention at all. What a good place to be! You know, there are still fish in lakes in October and November! It might be cooler fishin, but Jim and I used to love to go then.

  7. i’ll really fish anytime anywhere… even if it’s with a single piece of string attached to a piece of metal i call a hook cuz i made it with a worm i just dug outta the ground hours ago but have been debating whether to fish with it or use it in a stew.. it’s a gamble ya know… in a creek i can see the bottom of and can barely fill a canteen with but i would soooo rather a fish.
long story longer if the opportunity presents itself. then heck ya i’m up for it. but from what i heard it’ll prolly be pretty busy in october. i’ve already heard wedding and slumber party. not necessarily in that order. lol

  8. I bet it will be busy in Oct. Lots to do and little time.

I think one of the reasons we shifted to our garlic catfish bait is that is can be eaten and the garlic gets rid of that natural worm aftertaste.
