The journey
Ssgt Pete, Pam, Repete, and Julie
Freedom is not free. It involves good men and women making sacrifices for the good of family, friends and all mankind. Truly a universal thought. But it translates to individual service and sacrifice. Day by day, week by week, year by year. Not only the sacrifice of the service member, but of all connected to them. It is not now nor has it ever been an Army of One, no matter what the advertising types say. Pete is currently at Camp Shelby Mississippi training for the sandbox. He thinks that some civil war general built the place, and it's pretty much the same as he left it. Clever that US Army eh? The sandbox may be an improvement. We shall see as Ssgt Pete's excellent adventure begins.
Side note Pete was in the Marines for 8 years before getting out and hookin up with the Army National Guard. I know those skills will serve him well. Godspeed Pete.
The reason for this page is to give Pete a place to take a peek at his family, from wherever he is in the world.
Ssgt Pete has now arrived in the sandbox. The work now begins.
Troop Support
Troop support here means Grandma and Grandpa stand in where and when they can. Our first outing was our excellent fishing adventure. We would like to claim huge catches of mighty fish. Unfortunately Grandma violated the first rule of fishermen everywhere. She brought along a camera. Rats!! Oh well, onward and upward ... to come, Camping, Horses, more Fishing .. maybe this time we photoshop in big fishes or something. Anyone got any extra bug bite juice?

Safari ... into the wilds of (drum roll) the Zoo
Who doesn't remember the trips to the Zoo. Face to face (thorough bars of course not like that crazy Beth and Chris guy) with a Tiger. The journey on the train. Feeding fierce wild birds (no Pam they don't bite loosen up Gurl) Photographing, looking walking, exploring, and more walking . And then the walking. Sure makes that hamburger after the trip taste better.

With Beth at the zoo in the city in the East (okay not that far east). Photos by Chris.

Adventures in Horsing Around. Yanno it might be just me but I think Ms Julie looks very much at home on a horse. It's good being a grandpa and getting to take kids out to the country.
Step one ... say hi to a horse. Petie thinks he will watch this time. Julie in introduced to her horse Tess. They get along just swell. She is comfortable on Tess. Then it is time to head out. One hour is just about right for a first time. I think she wants to go back again. So do I.
